The Townsend Legacy

I have always aspired to be more like the Townsend women. They are wives, mothers, entrepreneurs, chefs, scrapbookers, seamstresses, home school teachers, and hostesses. Each of these amazing women have been on my mind this season more than ever for a few reasons; one, I miss them and wish they were here; and secondly, I NEED THEIR HELP! The ideal Christmas to me is to be able to host family and friends with a perfectly clean and well-decorated house, appetizers aplenty, enough Christmas candy and cookies to make you sick, and dinner to die for. This is no problem for any of the Townsend women (even on short notice and on a budget!), and that got me thinking. Sure, they are talented, but is it really the genes that gave them this talent? I think not (and that is why even the married-in-to Townsend is the same way). I would have to say that what they have is a heart of a servant- that is what sets the Townsend women apart.
I have already received my Christmas gift from each one of them; the memories, the “tricks of the trade” that they have passed down throughout the years, and most importantly- the legacy of a servant’s heart. I will continue to aspire to be in the company of the Townsend women, but it is no small feat.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

What a great holiday! We, especially us Americans, could really use more holidays to remind us to take inventory of what we have and be thankful!! This year (and every year) I am thankful for the family I have!! I know, a little cheesy- but really! Who wouldn't be thankful for a family who wants to share in their blessings, and pass on the heritage that we have gotten from those before us?!
I know the blog has been a little slow going, but keep tuned in and we will be sharing more about our family, what makes us what we are, and what we have to look forward to. It is strange to think that this time next year we will be celebrating the arrival of our new child/sibling (or two)!!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Cookbook!!

We are in the process of making a cookbook as a fundraiser for the adoption and we really need your help!! We need as many recipes from as many people as possible by November 5th! The reason this deadline is so soon is because we would like to get the cookbooks back in time for Christmas!

If you would like to submit a recipe or two (or three, or ten) go to Typensave.com and enter YOUR name as the contributor. The group login is 4adoptoin (yes, it is spelled wrong) and the password is vzvkx
OR you can email it to either denaestocks@hotmail.com or cinderlance@aol.com

This is an OPEN Invitation, so pass this on to all the awsome cooks you know!!

THANK YOU!!

And so we begin...

This being the first post for our new blog, we should probably start from the beginning. We are the Lance family. Tom (dad), Cindy (mom), Nathan, Denae and Jordan. Our reason for starting this blog is to share with our extended family in Christ our plans to adopt from Ethiopia. Why? You ask.

Ephesians 1:4-6 says, For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.

We know that we have been adopted to be the children of God and he is a wonderful father full of love and mercy, how can we keep from sharing that? Ethiopia has over 4 million orphans due to poverty and AIDS. We want to share our lives and home with the children there. We are not sure of all the details as to how this chapter of our lives will be completed. We have a few obstacles to overcome. We are working on getting our home study done, and collecting all the documents we need to accomplish this.

So, that is where we are. We are excited to embark on this journey, and invite you to join with us in prayer for God's will. There are other ways you can help- We are making a cookbook!!
